Frank David Hammons, Sr.

February 13, 1936 - August 31, 2020

It is with an immense amount of love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Frank David Hammons, Sr. Frank was born on February 13, 1936 in Fackler, Alabama. He departed his earthly home to meet his Savior face to face on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the age of 84 while surrounded by his family. Frank died of natural causes and lived a full life. Frank met his wife of 61 years, Katie Travis Hammons, shortly after serving his country in the U.S. Army. The two were wed on October 22, 1959. Frank retired from the Electric Power Board after 30 years of service and attended Tiftonia Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Elijah and Queenie Morris Hammon, brothers, Junior, Doyle & William “Son” Hammon, and sisters, Shelly McKee and Rena Lou Stone. Survivors include his wife, Katie Hammons; children, Diann (Tim) Moreland, Frank David Jr., (Mary) Hammons, Don (Mary) Hammons, Tracy (Kim) Hammons; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and brother, Robert Hammon. A special thank you to Hearth Hospice for all your care and support during this time. Also, a special thank you to our caregiver and friend, Wanda Weathers. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart Hospice would be appreciated. Please share your expressions of sympathy at ryanfuneralhome.net. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Brandon and Chaplain Rodney Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory, Trenton, GA.
