Pennie Kathryn Lawson

February 12, 1957 - December 23, 2021

Pennie Kathryn (Bauer) Lawson of Flat Rock, AL went to be with her Heavenly Father at the age of 64 on December 23, 2021. Pennie was surrounded by her loving husband, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. Pennie was born on February 12, 1957 to Roy and Peggie Bauer in Cape Girardeau, MO. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Trevecca Nazarene College in 1979. She later went on to earn her Master of Education in Elementary Education from University of West Georgia and her Degree of Educational Specialist in 2009 from Nova Southeastern University. Pennie was a lifelong educator who was passionate about teaching and took pride in making learning fun and engaging while showing love and compassion to every child who entered her classroom. She retired from education in 2015. After retirement, Pennie enjoyed traveling, spending time with her grandchildren, and helping with church ministries. Pennie was a member of Trenton United Methodist Church. She was strong in her faith and led by example in every aspect of her life. She was the epitome of the hands and feet of Christ and always willing to help those in need, even if that meant putting her own needs aside. Pennie was blessed with the gift of hospitality. She and her husband have opened their hearts and their home to countless strangers, family, and friends, providing a loving, comfortable, and welcoming space for all who visited. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Eugene Bauer, and mother, Peggie Sue (Pender) Bauer. Pennie is survived by her husband, Mike Lawson; daughters Summer (Dennis) Kelley, Autumn Jewell, and Kelly (Tim) Francis; grandchildren William, Katie, Thomas, and Ashleigh Kelley, Kritter Jewell, and Tessa Lou and Trudy Francis; great grandchild Beckett Kelley; brother Wayne (Virginia) Bauer; sister Debbie Bauer; countless aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews as well as a large extended family and close family friends. Visitation will be held at Ryan’s Funeral Home in Trenton, GA from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28th. Celebration of her life will take place at Trenton United Methodist at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29th. Internment at 12:30 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
